Members of the TGFβ superfamily are involved in embryonic development and adult tissue homeostasis. Inhibins and activinsinhibit and activate, respectively, the secretion of follitropin bythe pituitary gland. Inhibins and activins are involved in regulating a number of functions such as hypothala mic and pituitary hormone secretion, gonadal hormone secretion, germ cell development and maturation, erythroid differentiation, Insulin secretion, nerve cell survival, embryonic axial development or bone growth, depending on their subunit composition. activins oppose the funtions of Inhibins. Inhibins are predominantly expressed in liver, uterus and ovarytissue. Inhibin A, a dimer ofαand β-A, and Inhibin B, a dimer of α and β-B, have been shown to inhibit the secretion of follicle stimulating hormone. Describe :

Blocking peptides are peptides that bind specifically to the target antibody and block antibody binding. These peptide usually contains the epitope recognized by the antibody. Antibodies bound to the blocking peptide no longer bind to the epitope on the target protein. This mechanism is useful when non-specific binding is an issue, for example, in Western blotting (WB) and Immunohistochemistry (IHC). By comparing the staining from the blocked antibody versus the antibody alone, one can see which staining is specific; Specific binding will be absent from the western blot or IHC performed with the neutralized antibody.
