MRP-L17 (39S ribosomal protein L17, mitochondrial), also known as LIP2 (LYST-interacting protein 2), is a 175 amino acid protein that is a component of the large ribosomal subunit of the mitochondria. Expressed in adipose tissue, adrenal gland and mammary gland, MRP-L17 is one of the 70 protein components of mitochondrial ribosomes that are encoded by the nuclear genome.The gene encoding MRP-L17 maps to human chromosome 11, which houses over 1,400 genes and comprises nearly 4% of the human genome. Jervell and Lange-Nielsen syndrome, Jacobsen syndrome, Niemann-Pick disease, hereditary angioedema and Smith-Lemli-Opitz syndrome are associated with defects in genes that maps to chromosome 11. Describe :

Blocking peptides are peptides that bind specifically to the target antibody and block antibody binding. These peptide usually contains the epitope recognized by the antibody. Antibodies bound to the blocking peptide no longer bind to the epitope on the target protein. This mechanism is useful when non-specific binding is an issue, for example, in Western blotting (WB) and Immunohistochemistry (IHC). By comparing the staining from the blocked antibody versus the antibody alone, one can see which staining is specific; Specific binding will be absent from the western blot or IHC performed with the neutralized antibody.
