Colonystimulating factors(CSFs)were initiallycharacterized bytheir ability to stimulate in vitro colonyformation by hematopoietic progenitorcellsin semi-solidmedia. Several of these CSFs have been assigned an interleukin number, while three (GM-CSF, G-CSF and M-CSF) have retained their CSF designations. The human granulocyte-macrophage colonystimulating factor(GM-CSF) is a pleiotropic cytokinewith a 17 amino acid signal peptide that is cleaved to produce themature formof 127 amino acids. Thematuremurine GM-CSF protein is 124 amino acids and shares 60 percent homology with the human GM-CSF protein. GM-CSFis a glycoprotein thatcan stimulate the proliferation of hematopoieticcellsincluding granulocytes andmacrophages. It has been shown to promote the phosphorylation ofcPLA2 in human neutrophils. The phosphorylation ofcPLA2was accompanied by an increase in the enzyme activity. Product :

Describe :

Blocking peptides are peptides that bind specifically to the target antibody and block antibody binding. These peptide usually contains the epitope recognized by the antibody. Antibodies bound to the blocking peptide no longer bind to the epitope on the target protein. This mechanism is useful when non-specific binding is an issue, for example, in Western blotting (WB) and Immunohistochemistry (IHC). By comparing the staining from the blocked antibody versus the antibody alone, one can see which staining is specific; Specific binding will be absent from the western blot or IHC performed with the neutralized antibody.
