Distinct DNA repair pathways minimize the consequences of mutagenic events. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are highly reactive atoms with an unpaired electron that are conducive to double-strand DNA breaking events. Artemis, named after the Greek goddess for the protection of children, is one of the major proteins contributing to the preservation of double-strand breaks in DNA by cutting away the damaged parts of the DNA, which allows the strands to rejoin. Artemis is a single-strand-specific 5' to 3' exonuclease that forms a complex with the 469 kDa DNA-dependent protein kinase (DNA-PKcs). DNA-PKcs phosphorylates Artemis, and Artemis acquires endonucleolytic activity on 5' and 3' overhangs and hairpins. These activities are essential for V(D)J recombination and for the 5' and 3' overhang processing in nonhomologous DNA end joining. Product :

Describe :

Blocking peptides are peptides that bind specifically to the target antibody and block antibody binding. These peptide usually contains the epitope recognized by the antibody. Antibodies bound to the blocking peptide no longer bind to the epitope on the target protein. This mechanism is useful when non-specific binding is an issue, for example, in Western blotting (WB) and Immunohistochemistry (IHC). By comparing the staining from the blocked antibody versus the antibody alone, one can see which staining is specific; Specific binding will be absent from the western blot or IHC performed with the neutralized antibody.
