CD34 is a heavily glycosylated, transmembrane glycoprotein that is expressed on the surface of lymphohematopoietic stem and progenitor cells, small-vessel endothelial cells, embryonic fibroblasts and some cells in fetal and adult nervous tissue. CD34 antigen expression is highest in the most primitive stem cells and is gradually lost as lineage committed progenitors differentiate. The CD34 antigen is also present on capillary endothelial cells and on bone marrow stromal cells. The CD34 cytoplasmic domain has an intracellular domain that contains consensus sites for activated protein kinase C (PKC) phosphorylation as well as serine, threonine and tyrosine phosphorylation consensus sites. Describe :

Blocking peptides are peptides that bind specifically to the target antibody and block antibody binding. These peptide usually contains the epitope recognized by the antibody. Antibodies bound to the blocking peptide no longer bind to the epitope on the target protein. This mechanism is useful when non-specific binding is an issue, for example, in Western blotting (WB) and Immunohistochemistry (IHC). By comparing the staining from the blocked antibody versus the antibody alone, one can see which staining is specific; Specific binding will be absent from the western blot or IHC performed with the neutralized antibody.
