Acyl-protein thioesterase 1 (APT1, Lysophospholipase 1) is a member of a family of critical enzymes, lysophospholipases, that act on biological membranes to regulate the multifunctional lysophospholipids. APT1 hydrolyzes fatty acids from S-acylated cysteine residues in proteins such as trimeric G alpha proteins or HRAS. The role of APT1 in regulating lysophospholipids is important because increased levels of lysophospholipids are detected in a variety of diseases, including atherosclerosis and hyperlipidemia. Regulated expression of acyl-protein thioesterase by PKC has been suggested to have important implications for signal transduction processes. Product :

Describe :

Blocking peptides are peptides that bind specifically to the target antibody and block antibody binding. These peptide usually contains the epitope recognized by the antibody. Antibodies bound to the blocking peptide no longer bind to the epitope on the target protein. This mechanism is useful when non-specific binding is an issue, for example, in Western blotting (WB) and Immunohistochemistry (IHC). By comparing the staining from the blocked antibody versus the antibody alone, one can see which staining is specific; Specific binding will be absent from the western blot or IHC performed with the neutralized antibody.
