Seven complementation groups (A-G) of xeroderma pigmentosum have been described. The xeroderma pigmentosum group A protein, XPA, is a zinc metalloprotein which preferentially binds to DNA damaged by ultraviolet (UV) radiation and chemical carcinogens. XPA is a DNA repair enzyme that has been shown to be required for the incision step of nucleotide excision repair. XPG (also designated ERCC5) is an endonuclease that makes the 3’ incision in DNA nucleotide excision repair. Mammalian XPG is similar in sequence to yeast RAD2. Conserved residues in the catalytic center of XPG are important for nuclease activity and function in nucleotide excision repair. Product :

Describe :

Blocking peptides are peptides that bind specifically to the target antibody and block antibody binding. These peptide usually contains the epitope recognized by the antibody. Antibodies bound to the blocking peptide no longer bind to the epitope on the target protein. This mechanism is useful when non-specific binding is an issue, for example, in Western blotting (WB) and Immunohistochemistry (IHC). By comparing the staining from the blocked antibody versus the antibody alone, one can see which staining is specific; Specific binding will be absent from the western blot or IHC performed with the neutralized antibody.
