The mGluR proteins (metabotropic glutamate receptors) are members of the G protein-coupled receptor family and are functionally and pharmacologically distinct from the GluR proteins (ionotropic glutamate receptors). The eight currently known mGluR proteins are mediated by two G proteins with opposing regulation of adenylate cyclase pathways. The activities of mGluR-1 and mGluR-5 are mediated by a G protein that activates a phosphatidylinositolcalcium second messenger system and generates a calcium-activated chloride current. The remainder of the eight subtypes of mGluR have an activity mediated by a G protein that inhibits adenylate cyclase activity. mGluR-6 is expressed in the synapses of bipolar cell dendrites. This receptor is involved in mediating synaptic transmission from rod and cone photoreceptors to other neurons. Product :

Describe :

Blocking peptides are peptides that bind specifically to the target antibody and block antibody binding. These peptide usually contains the epitope recognized by the antibody. Antibodies bound to the blocking peptide no longer bind to the epitope on the target protein. This mechanism is useful when non-specific binding is an issue, for example, in Western blotting (WB) and Immunohistochemistry (IHC). By comparing the staining from the blocked antibody versus the antibody alone, one can see which staining is specific; Specific binding will be absent from the western blot or IHC performed with the neutralized antibody.
