The nuclear pore complex (NPC) mediates bidirectional macromolecular traffic between the nucleus and cytoplasm in eukaryotic cells and is comprised of more than 100 different subunits. Many of the subunits belong to a family called nucleoporins (Nups), which are characterized by the presence of O-linked-N-acetylglucosamine moieties and a distinctive pentapeptide repeat (XFXFG). Nup88 (nucleoporin 88kDa) is a 741 amino acid protein that localizes to the nucleus and functions as an essential component of the nuclear pore complex. Expressed ubiquitously, Nup88 is subject to phosphorylation by ATM or ATR and is upregulated in malignant neoplasms and precancerous dysplasias, suggesting a role in tumorigenesis. The gene encoding Nup88 maps to human chromosome 17, which comprises over 2.5% of the human genome and encodes over 1,200 genes. Product :

Describe :

Blocking peptides are peptides that bind specifically to the target antibody and block antibody binding. These peptide usually contains the epitope recognized by the antibody. Antibodies bound to the blocking peptide no longer bind to the epitope on the target protein. This mechanism is useful when non-specific binding is an issue, for example, in Western blotting (WB) and Immunohistochemistry (IHC). By comparing the staining from the blocked antibody versus the antibody alone, one can see which staining is specific; Specific binding will be absent from the western blot or IHC performed with the neutralized antibody.
