MARVELD1, (MARVEL domain-containing 1), is one of the MARVEL (MAL and related proteins for vesicle trafficking and membrane link) domain-containing proteins. It is a nuclear-localized protein that is widely expressed in normal human tissues. While it has been reported to be overexpressed in colon cancer, MARVELD1 protein levels are generally lower in several primary tumors including ovary, breast, kidney, bladder and liver. This lower level of MARVELD1 expression in tumors is thought to be due to a higher methylation status of the MARVELD1 promoter as treatment of MDA-MB-361 with 5-aza-2'-deoxycytidine restores MARVELD1 expression, suggesting that loss of MARVELD1 expression may contribute to tumorgenicity. Describe :

Blocking peptides are peptides that bind specifically to the target antibody and block antibody binding. These peptide usually contains the epitope recognized by the antibody. Antibodies bound to the blocking peptide no longer bind to the epitope on the target protein. This mechanism is useful when non-specific binding is an issue, for example, in Western blotting (WB) and Immunohistochemistry (IHC). By comparing the staining from the blocked antibody versus the antibody alone, one can see which staining is specific; Specific binding will be absent from the western blot or IHC performed with the neutralized antibody.
