The PAF receptor binds platelet-activating factor (PAF) and is thought to mediate its action via a G protein that activates a phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger system. PAF is a chemotactic phospholipid mediator that possesses potent inflammatory, smooth-muscle contractile and hypotensive activity. It has been implicated as a mediator in diverse pathologic processes, such as allergy, asthma, septic shock, arterial thrombosis, and inflammatory processes.The PAF receptor is induced by granulocyte macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF), interleukin-5 and n-butyrate. A diverse range of compounds act as PAF receptor antagonists; these may be useful pharmacologically. Product :

Describe :

Blocking peptides are peptides that bind specifically to the target antibody and block antibody binding. These peptide usually contains the epitope recognized by the antibody. Antibodies bound to the blocking peptide no longer bind to the epitope on the target protein. This mechanism is useful when non-specific binding is an issue, for example, in Western blotting (WB) and Immunohistochemistry (IHC). By comparing the staining from the blocked antibody versus the antibody alone, one can see which staining is specific; Specific binding will be absent from the western blot or IHC performed with the neutralized antibody.
