Product Name :
CD36 polyclonal antibody
Background :
CD36 is a class B scavenger receptor composed of short amino-terminal and carboxy-terminal cytoplasmic domains, two transmembrane domains, and a large glycosylated extracellular domain . The CD36 receptor has many diverse ligands and cellular functions and is expressed by multiple cell types, including monocytes, macrophages, platelets, endothelial cells, adipocytes, and some epithelial cells . Binding of thrombospondin-1 (TSP-1) to CD36 facilitates the inhibition of angiogenesis by TSP-1 . CD36 also binds lipids and enables their transport into cells . In macrophages, CD36 acts as a receptor for oxidized LDL (Ox-LDL) and is responsible for Ox-LDL internalization, which contributes to development of atherosclerosis . The CD36 receptor participates in the innate immune response by acting as a pattern recognition receptor for lipid components of bacterial cell walls and fungal beta-glucans . CD36 likely influences signaling by interacting with other cell surface receptors including TLRs, integrins, and tetraspanins . Phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA)/ 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol-13-acetate (TPA) induces CD36 expression in the THP-1 monocyte cell line .

Tips:

For phospho antibody, we provide phospho peptide(0.5mg) and non-phospho peptide(0.5mg).

Describe :

Blocking peptides are peptides that bind specifically to the target antibody and block antibody binding. These peptide usually contains the epitope recognized by the antibody. Antibodies bound to the blocking peptide no longer bind to the epitope on the target protein. This mechanism is useful when non-specific binding is an issue, for example, in Western blotting (WB) and Immunohistochemistry (IHC). By comparing the staining from the blocked antibody versus the antibody alone, one can see which staining is specific; Specific binding will be absent from the western blot or IHC performed with the neutralized antibody.

Formula:

Synthetic peptide was lyophilized with 100% acetonitrile and is supplied as a powder. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml DI water for a final concentration of 10 mg/ml.The purity is >90%,tested by HPLC and MS.

Storage:

The freeze-dried powder is more stable. For short time at 2-8°C. For long term storage store at -20°C.
