Fibronectins are multi-domain glycoproteins that bind to a variety of substances including collagen, Actin, heparin, DNA, fibrin and Fibronectin receptors. They are involved in a diverse array of important functions such as blood coagulation, wound healing, cell adhesion, cell differentiation and migration. FNDC5 (Fibronectin type III domain containing 5), also known as FRCP2, is a 196 amino acid single-pass type I membrane protein that is imported in peroxisomes through the Peroxin 5 receptor pathway. Existing as four alternatively spliced isoforms, FNDC5 is encoded by a gene located on human chromosome 1p35.1, which spans 260 million base pairs, contains over 3,000 genes and comprises nearly 8% of the human genome. Chromosome 1 houses a large number of disease-associated genes, including those that are involved in familial adenomatous polyposis, Stickler syndrome, Parkinson’s disease, Gaucher disease, schizophrenia and Usher syndrome. Describe :

Blocking peptides are peptides that bind specifically to the target antibody and block antibody binding. These peptide usually contains the epitope recognized by the antibody. Antibodies bound to the blocking peptide no longer bind to the epitope on the target protein. This mechanism is useful when non-specific binding is an issue, for example, in Western blotting (WB) and Immunohistochemistry (IHC). By comparing the staining from the blocked antibody versus the antibody alone, one can see which staining is specific; Specific binding will be absent from the western blot or IHC performed with the neutralized antibody.
