hnRNP U, also known as scaffold attachment factor A (SAF-A) or SP120, was first described as a nuclear matrix protein that contributes to RNA metabolism. hnRNP U has been shown to bind pre-mRNAs and contributes to splicing by controlling U2 snRNP maturation . Furthermore, hnRNP U has been shown to bind chromatin to help regulate its structure during interphase. During prophase, hnRNP U becomes phosphorylated by Aurora-B, which evicts hnRNP U and the chromatin-associated RNAs bound to it, a process critical to proper chromosome alignment. hnRNP U plays a role in the chromatin localization of Xist RNA, and loss of hnRNP U in ES cells fail to achieve an inactivated X chromosome. hnRNP U has also been shown to play a key role in immunity, functioning as a viral dsRNA sensor. Upon viral recognition, hnRNP U oligomerizes and activates numerous antiviral genes, including IFNB1 . Loss of function variants of hnRNP U have been shown to cause early onset epilepsy and intellectual disorders. Product :

Describe :

Blocking peptides are peptides that bind specifically to the target antibody and block antibody binding. These peptide usually contains the epitope recognized by the antibody. Antibodies bound to the blocking peptide no longer bind to the epitope on the target protein. This mechanism is useful when non-specific binding is an issue, for example, in Western blotting (WB) and Immunohistochemistry (IHC). By comparing the staining from the blocked antibody versus the antibody alone, one can see which staining is specific; Specific binding will be absent from the western blot or IHC performed with the neutralized antibody.
