Orexin Receptor 1 or Hypocretin G-protein-coupled receptor-1 (OX1R and HCRTR1, respectively) is 1 of 2 orexin receptors expressed in the brain. Neurons in the hypothalamus express orexin receptors that bind to neuropeptides to modulate neuronal function . The neuropeptides that bind orexin receptors include Orexin-A (hypocretin-1) and Orexin-B (hypocretin-2). Orexin-A binds with a higher affinity to HCRTR1, whereas Orexin-B binds more selectively to HCRTR2 . Activation of HCRTR1 by its cognate neuropeptide drives downstream signaling events regulating several cellular processes, including increases in cytoplasmic Ca2+ levels . HCRTR1 has been linked to many behavioral processes, including wakefulness as well as migraines and mood disorders . The link of the orexin system to sleep and mood disorders make it a potential therapeutic target to combat insomnia, depression, anxiety, and addiction . Product :

Describe :

Blocking peptides are peptides that bind specifically to the target antibody and block antibody binding. These peptide usually contains the epitope recognized by the antibody. Antibodies bound to the blocking peptide no longer bind to the epitope on the target protein. This mechanism is useful when non-specific binding is an issue, for example, in Western blotting (WB) and Immunohistochemistry (IHC). By comparing the staining from the blocked antibody versus the antibody alone, one can see which staining is specific; Specific binding will be absent from the western blot or IHC performed with the neutralized antibody.
